The blue catalogue is dedicated to the eighteen guests of honour of the Poster Festival Ljubljana ’11. The authors of introductory texts are Ksenija Berk and Brane Kovič. Each guest of honour is presented on several pages: CVs are followed by posters, illustrating the designer’s social activism, be it the fight agianst racism, drugs, climate change or war. Alongside an overview of design, the catalogue presents social injustices and issues of the 20th and 21st centuries.

The catalogue features 125 posters by 111 shortlisted students. The selection of posters is accompanied by a foreword of designer and festival chairman Radovan Jenko, as well as a commentary by former Slovenian ombudsman Matjaž Hanžek with photographs of Romani settlements by Arne Hodalič. The students’ mentors, professors from academies in Groningen, Ljubljana, Paris and Warsaw contributed their thoughts on racism, accompanied by their students’ ingenius thoughts. The last several pages present Amnesty International Slovenia’s activities, outlined by their workshops in the section Kids.

The catalogue Youth, Student Works is more than an aesthetically pleasing collage of posters, but presents an insight into the younger generation’s views on racism today.

The publication presents the first European youth poster competition in Ljubljana on the topic of climate change. 97 young designers from around the world took part. The international jury selected 125 works to be featured at the exhibition and presented in the catalogue.
