Niko Kralj

On Monday, 15 July 2013, at 92 years of age, died Niko Kralj, the father of the folding chair Rex and the most important figure in post-war industrial design in Slovenia. Apart from the legendary chair, that stands in the company of 20th century design icons, presented in the New York's Museum of Modern Art MoMA, Niko Kralj designed dozens of timeless pieces of furniture, particularly in cooperation with the Stol (Chair) company from Kamnik. His practical solutions in the second half of the 20th century found their way into many Slovenian homes and are topping the wish-lists of quality design lovers around the world.
