Studied at Warsaw’s Academy of Arts from 1960 to 1966. He graduated in poster design under professor Henryk Tomaszewski. He currently works as a designer and illustrator of posters, books and corporate identities.

He has been teaching at the Academy of Arts in Warsaw since 1971 where he is Head of the Poster Design Department. As visiting professor, Wasilewski lectured at various academies and universities throughout the world, namely in Damascus, Frankfurt, Groningen and Helsinki.

As a poster designer, he received many awards, such as the Gold and Silver Medals of the 1976 and 1994 International Poster Biennials in Warsaw, the Silver Medal at the 1996 International Triennial in Sofia and First Prize in the 1986 international competition for the UN poster and calendar.

From 1973 to 2000 Wasilewski exhibited in Poland, Germany, Spain, Finland, Bulgaria and Chile. His works are featured in permanent collections in Poland, France, USA, Japan and Israel. Mieczyslaw Wasilewski also writes for periodicals such as Novum, Print, Graphis, Interpressgrafik and Projekt, and is member of A.G. I. (Alliance Graphique Internationale).
